When They See Us star Asante Blackk about his new Netflix series Social Distance. This is an eight-part anthology series set in the initial months of the COVID-19 pandemic. Each episode tells a unique story of people who are socially distant from each other—forced part by circumstance, their reliance on technology, and also America’s systemic racism. Told through the POV of the Internet of connected things, the show captures the emotional experience of being socially distant as characters have no choice but to communicate remotely (via Zoom, FaceTime, social media, security cameras, and more). Audience sees these interactions through these varied and deeply human stories. He stars in the project with his real time father Ayize Ma’at.
