Leah Turner is the living version of a country song with a passion all its own.

Her father, Don Turner, was a true-blue world champion rodeo star. In earlier days as a Coca Cola distributor, Don delivered a shipment to a deli where he first caught eyes with Susaña Galvan; a jewelry designer, artist and ballet dancer. From this American love story, fiery Leah Turner sat down to a piano at 3 years old and has not stopped since. It was inevitable that all roads would eventually lead to Nashville.

After attending the Music Academy of the West where she was classically trained in opera, Turner was discovered by Kenny Loggins when he guest-lectured at a songwriting class at Santa Barbara City College.  He told her to pack up her stuff and move to Los Angeles. “You have a career in music,” he said.

Turner worked with multi-Grammy winners Humberto Gatica and David Foster, and soon thereafter, had an opening slot touring with Brad Paisley. She released a Top 40 Country radio hit with “Take the Keys” and has shared the stage with Jake Owen, Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts and Cole Swindell. Turner also co-wrote Cody Purvis’ “Drinking Terms”, which just entered the Top 50 on Billboard’s Country charts as well as Kristy Lamb’s “Bad Habit” which hit Number 1 in Australia. Jeremy Renner tapped her to co-write “Never Sorry”, which was released on his latest LP, The Medicine.

Turner’s latest single, “Once Upon a Time in Mexico”, co-written and produced by Jesse Frasure, is an ode to her parents’ own love story. The song tells the story of a señorita who falls in love with a vaquero (cowboy), south of the border. What sets Turner’s music truly apart is her unique blend of country and Latin sounds – slipping into Spanish as if she was born to use both languages.  And of course, she was. This red-hot combination makes Turner’s sound completely unique, while at the same time, sticking fast to its true roots.

“Country music has always had a love affair with the Hispanic culture,” she said. “I’m just the product of a good old-fashioned country song.”
